Priyanka Mishra, BSc, MSc, PhD
Bio-Omician | Science Speaker | STEMM Outreach Activist
Dr. Priyanka Mishra is currently a Systems Integration Scientist at Illumina.
Initially, she achieved her doctoral training in 2018 from CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Research Center, in Bangalore, India. Where she studied the genetics of senna drug and established a novel molecular barcode as a tool to characterize and validate sennosides drug formulations in pharmaceutical market.
In 2017, Dr. Mishra signed up with the University of Hyderabad, India for a short period and eventually moved to Canada in 2018 at the Simon Fraser University. To her future interest, Dr. Mishra delved into system biology research, and as a member of that team, she discovered the novel functional role of a transcription regulator of the viral immune signaling in worms and established an interesting link on how metabolites from the gut bacteria can modulate neuronal development leading to neuropsychiatric disorders.
Further intrigued by her research findings, and to drive her research in preparation for a future leadership position, in 2020, Dr. Mishra moved to Neuroscience Department at the University of Texas, San Antonio. Where she attempted projects in understanding decision-making in single-cells with a focus on questions in next-generation sequencing, genome editing, and stem-cell technologies.
Dr. Mishra is currently the author of more than 21 papers and serves on the Editorial and Reviewer Board of different publishers. In her journey of delivering science beginning 2010 to date, she has addressed at 14 conferences spanning USA, Canada, Spain, and India.
Profoundly, she is enthusiastic outreach doer and has great interest in mentoring activities that can spark curiosity and passion about STEM as well as allow researchers at any and every educational level to explore different career paths while fostering collaborations with peers and institutions.

As a featured speaker and volunteer staff, Dr. Mishra is engaged with several local & International organizations, offering to her expertise.
Beyond science, she enjoys networking, exploring, reading, sports, and binge-watch. Obsessed with inherited forte, she is a fabulous cook.
